Baby Fair Imports Inc works out of an office on West 37th Street in the Garment District. We stock the part of a nursery that never appears in a photograph — the plug covers, the cabinet latches, the door knob covers, the thermometer that has to give a reading without waking anyone.
It is an unglamorous range and it is deliberately so. The week a baby starts pulling itself upright, the useful purchase is not decorative. It is the two hours on a Saturday spent covering outlets at floor level and slowing down the cabinet that holds the cleaning products.
